Zain Verjee’s career as a journalist began with data collection for her master’s research project. Zain discovered that a new radio station in Nairobi, 98.4 Capital FM, was looking for someone to read Traffic News. She applied for the job and was hired. Later, she launched the Love-Life show. Zain enjoyed her new job as a radio DJ and decided to postpone her studies to pursue her newfound passion.

In 1998, she accepted a position as an anchor and reporter on Kenya Television Network in order to gain experience in “hard news” reporting. This came after she witnessed images of the desperation, anguish, and pain of civilians who were victims of the Al Queda terrorist attack on the American embassy in Nairobi.

She began her career at CNN in 2000, when she was 25 years old. She worked as an anchor and correspondent for CNN for 14 years, living in Atlanta, Washington, DC, and London.

She was the anchor of CNN International’s European daytime program “World One” before leaving in April 2014. She was a newscaster for The Situation Room, a State Department correspondent, and co-anchor of CNN International’s Your World Today with Jim Clancy. Zain, on the other hand, considers her most memorable memory at CNN to be covering Condoleezza Rice, who was then the head of America’s foreign policy.

Since she left CNN, she has pursued a variety of entrepreneurial endeavors, and she is now the founder of the Zain Verjee Group. For her organization, she has assembled a powerful team of strategists, communicators, digital influencers, and content creators. Bloomberg Media, Bloomberg Philanthropies, Equity Group Foundation of Kenya, the World Health Organization, The MiSK Foundation, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa have all hired the firm to handle their communications and public relations.

She is also the cofounder and creator of Amplify through aKoma Media, a content creator fellowship with participants from East and West Africa and the United States, in collaboration with the MasterCard Foundation.

she suffered from a skin disorder called psoriasis since she was 8 years old. Psoriasis is caused by the immune system mistakenly attacking healthy skin cells which makes the skin build up into bumpy red patches covered with white scales and plaques that spread around the body.

With the help of meditation, visualization, and a strict, simple diet, she was able to control the disease, and the disease was in remission for a decade. Psoriasis, on the other hand, is a chronic condition.
