Kingston graduated from Somerset College, Gold Coast in 1998, and later joined Bond University, where she graduated with a degree in Journalism in 2003.

Kingston delivered the final Nightline bulletin in July 2008. Following that, she was named host of Nine News PM Edition.
Kingston hosted Nine Afternoon News until May 2009, when she switched to Nine Late News. This Afternoon, a new news and current affairs program anchored by Andrew Daddo and Katrina Blowers, was set to replace Nine Afternoon News. After Kingston went to Nine’s Late News, the Nine Afternoon News was shown in Melbourne for a week with different hosts.
