He joined the network as a fill-in weather forecaster on Good Morning America during the maternity leave of Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee, his replacement. He was serving as a weekend anchor and news reporter at WPSD-TV in Paducah, KY, before joining WABC. Sam! started his career as an intern at WKYT-TV in Lexington, Kentucky.
