Ellet works for 13abc as the morning meteorologist every weekday on Action News This Morning. Previously, he made his first debut at the station during the hot summer of 2012, after becoming the weather reporter and weekend meteorologist. His best story occurred in 2014 and 2015 when he reported on the Coast Guard’s icebreaking mission during the almost historic Great Lakes ice forecasting. As a result, Ellet together with his workmate Todd Gaertner received an Emmy award for the story.
Prior to that, he worked for KHBS/KHOG in Arkansas after his career made him travel straight into tornado alley. Ellen said, “Northwest Arkansas is much more extreme and wild than many people are aware of.” It only took him two months while there then a disastrous ice storm covered the Ozark Mountains in 1-3″ of ice. Electricity shortage was experienced for 21 days in spots. Usually, the spring season resulted in extreme tornadoes and flooding. Because of his unique reports and severe weather coverage on Arkansas black bears and also getting the opportunity to hold an untamed baby bear, Ellet won awards. Additionally, he was in Columbus, Ohio working for WBNS as well as the Ohio News Network.
Above all, in 2005 Ellet started his television career in West Lafayette, Indiana, spending two years as the weekend meteorologist for WLFI. Afterward, he moved to southern West Virginia to become the morning meteorologist. Then two months passed and he was promoted to the station’s Chief Meteorologist.
Before that, when Ellet was still a child, he had a passion for weather and forecasting. He used to watch tv daily and tried to participate in challenging the forecasters by creating his predictions when was 5 years old. Ellet said that “At the time I was just guessing and everyone laughed.”
Besides that, Ellet is an avid fan of Indiana Pacer and Colts, he enjoys adventure, traveling, hiking, photography and astronomy. in addition, he is a runner and enjoys local races and the trails the area provides. In conclusion, he has finished 7 half marathons and will be targeting his 4th marathon in 2020.
