Secondly, he was entertaining, informative, and creative, while working on his first stint as KCBD’s Sports Director when he was at NewsChannel 11 from 1995 to 1997, Christy got the attention of viewers with his unique style and viewer-interaction sportscasts. In addition, Pete’s Sports Challenges highlighting the area’s local sports were best-loved among viewers in the South Plains as well as his crash on a motorcycle. Finally, he has won many Texas AP Broadcasters Best Sportscast awards since his return at the station.

Before he joined KCBD, he came back to Lubbock after spending 7 years in the big city of Philadelphia. He worked for Comcast Networks in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as a Sports anchor and reporter. Christy covered the city’s sports teams 76ers, Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies. However, he concentrated on announcing and reporting on his best sport which is boxing including Middleweight Champion Bernard Hopkins’s impressive knockout after defeating Felix Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya.

He started his career when he was 14 years old, he predicted games on a local radio station in his hometown. When he turned 16 years old he was the Sports Director at WPTX-AM and WMDM-FM both in Maryland. Before that, he was a Sports Anchor and Reporter at KDRV-TV in Medford Oregon. To sum up, his broadcast travels resulted in taking him to stations in Virginia, Washington D.C, and New Jersey.

To begin with, Christy had a sports challenge called “I Beat Pete” it was exceedingly well known in the Mid-Atlantic region as he faced viewers and celebrities in the sport or game that they play. In addition, the challenge is an opportunity to give some exposure to those non-traditional sports such as Curling, Football Net, Kite Buggying, Australian Rules Football, and Sled Hockey.

Finally, he was nominated twice for Best Sports Reporter in the Mid-Atlantic Emmys. Before he left to go back to Lubbock in 2004, he was the winner of an Emmy for best Sports Show for this reason he left Philadelphia on top.
