Oren began his career immediately after his graduation from high school, as a sports reporter for WINA-AM in Charlottesville, Virginia. He later transitioned to television as a reporter for WBOC-TV in Salisbury, Maryland; the Washington, D.C. reporter for WYOU-TV in Scranton, Pennsylvania. In 2007, he joined WAVY-TV in Norfolk, Virginia.

He worked as a general assignment reporter for CBS 3 in Philadelphia in 2010. He joined CNN as their Jerusalem correspondent in 2015. He has two Emmys and three Associated Press awards for his work as a journalist. He is now a CNN Pentagon correspondent.

Oren currently works at CNN Pentagon based in Washington, DC, as a correspondent. He most recently worked as a CNN correspondent in Jerusalem. As an experienced journalist, he is in charge of covering the Department of Defense and national security issues.

He joined CNN in 2015 and served as the network’s Jerusalem correspondent for the next six years. He interviewed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu twice during his trip to the Middle East, as well as former Prime Ministers Simon Peres and Ehud Barak. He covered four Israeli elections and witnessed the Middle East change as Gulf states normalized relations with Israel. Among other places, his reporting took him to Russia, England, Serbia, and Nepal.
