McNeill is a senior news anchor working for WGHP-TV. Earlier in October 1983, McNeill graduated from UNC at Chapel Hill and then joined WGHP. At all times he has been eager to do exactly what he is doing where he intended to do it. McNeill has been working at the station in North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad for more than three decades. Furthermore, he is the reporter and producer of “Newsmakers”, which are prolonged, edited interview segments featuring small movers and shakers and also others who have affected the news or have been in the news.
During his tenure at WGHP, he has worked in numerous capacities: became one of the first co-anchors of the 6:30 pm newscast in February 2014, consumer reporter of the station, Child reporter on Wednesday (profiling area foster children who need adoption) and also the executive producer of unique projects. Before that, he served as one of the first co-anchors of the 10 pm newscasts (while WGHP became a FOX affiliate in 1995), co-anchor of the 6 pm newscast (2001-current), one of the first co-anchors of the 5 pm newscast (1990-current), co-anchor of the 11 pm newscasts (from 1988 to 1995 when WGHP was an ABC affiliate), co-anchor of the weekend newscasts (1986-87), anchor of the daybreak and noon newscasts (1985-86) and in 1983-85 as the general assignment reporter.
During his time as a student of UNC, he was the reporter and anchor at WKFT-TV in Fayetteville where he served as a student intern and part-time employee.
Moreover, he is the recipient of several awards because of his reporting and newscasts which he has co-anchored, and for this reason, he won regional Emmys for top newscast and breaking news. Besides that, while in the community, he worked as an advisory board member and volunteer with some local charities. Since the establishment of the FOX 8 Holiday Concert Series with the Greensboro and Winston-Salem Symphonies in the fall of the 1980s he was the co-host. McNeill is also a regular master of ceremonies and keynote speaker for area events as well as a teacher of Sunday School at the church.
