He is a multi-skilled journalist for CTV News Ottawa. To begin with, Vandermeer started his career at the station in May 2019. During this time, he worked as a production floater and in June he covered the Orleans tornado which was his first solo shift at CTV News.
Before that, he launched his journalism career at The Weather Network in Oakville and spent more than a decade in that particular station. While he was there, he explored North America covering severe weather including blizzards, forest fires, and tornadoes.
Afterward, he started working at his Farm called Vandermeer Farms based in Lyn, Ontario. He is currently;y serving at the farm organizing maintenance of farm property as well as barn facility, grass and equipment during the off-season. He coordinates the transport of machinery and harvest to and from the field and shop. Moreover, since May 1998, he has been working at Brockville Ontario Speedway as a race track official/flagman.
Above all, he is pleased to be back in his hometown once more, interacting with the residents and covering the stories that are important to the community. In closing, he is an avid fan of motorsport events and he’s mostly found at the Brockville Ontario Speedway waving the green flag on race nights.
