Rooy is a Multi-Skilled journalist and reporter for CTV News Ottawa. In February 2016, she joined the station. While at the station, she recently worked as a videographer for CTV Kitchener. There she took part in award-winning team coverage of a Kitchener house explosion. At the time of the pandemic, Rooy was behind the scenes having a look at the Cambridge ICU situation and for this reason, she was nominated for an RTDNA. Due to her passion for traveling, she lived for three months in Kigali, Rwanda during a reporting internship. She’s passionate about journalism and excited to be back in the nation’s capital. In conclusion, she reported for CTV Northern Ontario in Timmins and North Bay. While she was there, she was on the ground for the coverage of the Attawapiskat suicide crisis.
Rooy earlier launched her journalism career, at Global News Toronto as an assignment desk coordinator, online writer, and editorial assistant in September 2013. During her tenure, she covered the Pan Am games and produced federal elections. In brief, when she’s out of the office, she loves being outdoors, hiking and volunteering.
