Louise Minchin is a British television presenter, journalist and former news presenter who currently works freelance within the BBC. From 2009 until 2012, Minchin co-hosted Real Rescues alongside Nick Knowles and Chris Hollins. She has guest-hosted The One Show a number of times since 2010.

On BBC Breakfast show, she said that their relationship changed during a ski trip.Louise said: “Swimming was my thing. And I also love skiing and my husband is a really good skier,”

“And I always go skiing with him and it was just like, my gosh, trying to keep up with him, you know, was really hard because he’s very good, very fast, very safe.

“And then there was one point in our relationship when things changed and I’d been doing a lot of spinning. I used to do spin classes and I came down a glacier and I said, ‘Oh, my gosh, where is he?’

“And I was literally standing there for ages going, ‘Oh, this is so bad. I’ve left him on the mountain’. “He goes, ‘No, you’re just really fast.’ And that was a day that our relationship on the mountain changed.”

Minchin was a regular anchor on the BBC One programme Breakfast in 2012, co-hosting the show three days a week with Dan Walker. On 8 June 2021, Minchin announced live on air that she would be leaving BBC Breakfast “after the summer”, after presenting the show for 20 years. Having given up competitive sport as a teenager, after a BBC Breakfast Christmas cycling challenge she was inspired to attempt her first triathlon in 2013 and went on to qualify for the GB Team age-group team to race in Chicago in 2015.

Since then she has raced in five World and European Championships and has gone on to compete in extreme triathlons including one of the toughest triathlons in the world, Norseman in 2019. In February 2020 Louise took part in a 100 mile hike across the Namibian desert for Sport Relief – The Heat is On – raising awareness of mental health.

She won the hearts of many football enthusiasts with her coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, for which she travelled extensively. Though she has worked round the clock for years, Minchin finds time to pursue other interests. Minchin has a fascination for racing bikes and water skiing. She once achieved an incredible feat by covering 329 miles in a matter of 3 days on her bike.
