Truss entered Parliament in 2010. She was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Education and Child care in September 2012. Elizabeth served as the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from July 2014 until July 2016.
Liz was Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice from July 2016 until June 2017. She was Chief Secretary to the Treasury from June 2017 until July 2019.

Truss announced her resignation Thursday, 20th October 2022, after just 44 days in office. She was the third Prime Minister and quickly lost favor with fellow Conservatives and the wider public following a disastrous “mini budget” on 23rd September 2022 that spooked markets, sent borrowing rates up, and tanked the British pound. She fired her finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng and replaced him with Jeremy Hunt in the wake of the fallout, but it was not enough to ensure her political survival.
Liz will remain in office until a new Conservative Party leader is chosen via a leadership contest, which is expected to conclude on 28th October 2022, nevertheless, Truss’s brief stint has earned her an unfortunate place in history as Britain’s shortest-serving Prime Minister.
