She is a qualified Hurricane Awareness instructor with the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center. Additionally, she speaks to local schools and community groups regarding weather safety and preparedness and also takes part in hurricane expos. In 2011, she was nominated for an Emmy award due to hours of live coverage of tornadoes that passed across Tampa Bay. In 2016, she was once again nominated for another Emmy, together with other members on the Bay News 9 daybreak show team, for ongoing coverage of early morning tornadoes.
Before joining Bay News 9, she started her career at WTVO-TV in Rockford, Illinois, furthermore, she as well worked at KMTV in Omaha, Nebraska where she worked for 3 years.
