He is currently working for Bay News 9 as a meteorologist. In March 2001, Linker came to the Bay area where he began watching hurricanes once more as a member of Bay News 9’s Weather on the Nines team of meteorologists.
Before joining Bay News 9, he worked at WNYT in Albany, New York, where he started his forecasting career. When Linker was still young he got intrested in weather. At his hometown on New York’s Long Island a set of hurricanes impacted the area which would assist in shaping his career in future. The island got a direct hit from Hurricane Gloria, resulting to his family power shortage for 10 days back in 1985. In 1991 Hurricane Bob passed to the eastern part of Long Island, it resulted in plenty of wind and rain to the island on its way to landfall in New England.
Afterward Linker left WNYT and joined KGAN in Cedar Rapids, Ios Angeles for a new challenge forecasting the weather in the volatile conditions of Tornado Alley in May 1998. While at the station in eastern lowa he had an adventure of his lifetime for any person who is intrested with the weather like him. He experienced 14 different tornadoes, while working on a story about storm chasers, two of the hurricanes were rated F3 or higher. ” In one situation,” Josh recalls, “that the tornado was really after us.” Additionaly in 1998, he earned the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal and has the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society.
