He has been serving for three-decade as a journalist, During which he has covered numerous stories gaining interest both nationally and internationally, including Delta Flight 191’s 1985 crash at Fort Worth International Airport in Dallas; in 1989 reported on the killings of 15 citizens by a Mexican drug cartel, the Branch Davidian standoff of 1993 and fire in Waco, Texas, the 1995 City bombing in Oklahoma and also covered the 1998 Hurricane Mitch, that led to the death of 10,000 Central Americans. In the spring of 2003, he got embedded aboard the plane USS Constellation, and he was on the ground as a witness as several of the opening salvos of Operation Iraqi Freedom were fired from the Persian Gulf.

He was also a live broadcast as Hurricane Katrina made his first appearance at the US grounds and later moved to New Orleans. During this period, he witnessed the historic destructive storm in American history as ashore crashed a second time Katrina the hurricane.

Ryan is a holder of the Radio and Television News Directors Association’s prestigious Edward R. Murrow Honor. He also has been honored with national recognitions from the Society of Professional Journalists and Sigma Delta Chi and nominated twice by the Headliners Club of Austin as Best Radio Reporter. Ryan has earned various honors and recognitions from the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters, the Press Club of Dallas, and the Houston Press Club.
