After a few months, she earned an opportunity to try out at Shadow Traffic and got a break from radio. After she attended unpaid training for two weeks, she landed a full-time job that lasted for about three years. She also landed another on-camera chance to work at CLTV in Oakbrook, Illinois, responsible for morning traffic reports at the vital wall. Later, an opportunity opened up for a morning sports anchor, and she took over.
By late Spring of 1994, she was at a crossroads and ready to take the next path of being a successful and famous sports anchor. She worked both in the field and during the same time, the first all-sports station in Detroit was getting ready to hit the airwaves, and she tried her luck. Jennifer drove home for a few days and called Program Director Lorna Gladstone at the Fan. The purpose of the call was to set up a meeting which she did and was immediately hired. She worked in Detroit for three years, reporting on everything, including the Lions, the Tigers, MSU UM football, and hoops.
