Ghanim Al Muftah was born with Caudal Regression Syndrome (CRS) is a rare disorder which consists of abnormalities in the lumbosacral spine, rectum, urinary system and lower limbs. These abnormalities also include orthopaedic deformities, such as hip dislocation, knee-flexion contracture with popliteal webbing and talipes equinovarus.
Given extremely few chances of survival by doctors, Ghanim has overlooked living beyond his fifteen years. Al Muftah was held in Qatar with a rare condition well known as caudal regression syndrome, a congenital disorder in which the fetal growth of the lower body is abnormal.
