Gayle joined KTLA 5 Morning News in 1993, She was a correspondent and producer at “Now It Can Be Told,” an investigative news program from Tribune Entertainment. Before “Now,” Gayle was KPRC-TV’s “Troubleshooter” consumer reporter and “Nearly Noon” anchor in Houston. From 1984 to 1986, she served as consumer reporter and weekend anchor at WCIX-TV in Miami.
Anderson has reported for a number of prominent radio networks, including the ABC and NBC networks in New York, as well as the National Black Network. In Connecticut, she held reporter and anchor positions at KTNH-TV and radio stations WDRC-AM, WKND-AM and WWCO-AM.

In January 2002, Gayle earned the APTRA Award as best anchor for “best live coverage of a news event,” and that same month she was selected to carry the Olympic Torch for the 2002 Winter Olympics Torch Relay through Southern California.
