Ed Daniels is an American sports director at WGNO TV since joining the station in 1992. He previously started  TV in 1977 at WVUE and then Sports Director at KPLC TV in 1980.

Daniels’s wife is Robin Hecker Daniels a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. The couple lives in Kenner. Additionally, Hecker’s cousin is Chris Knipper. Knipper graduated from both Rummel Alumni and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (in 2002). His mother is Tommie Knipper and his cousins are Caitlyn Shorter, Stephanie Riera Henne, Robin Hecker Daniels, Jonathan Riera, and lastly Chris Riera.

Robin and her partner have five beautiful kids together namely Christopher, Jonathan Erin, Stephanie and Ryne. The couple is also expecting a grandson soon.

Daniels serves WGNO TV as the sports director. During his tenure, in the 2015 season, Daniels together with Curtis recorded more than two decades working as co-hosts of the Friday Night Football, which is among the leading high school football program in the country a show that Daniel invented. He still works on the Friday Night Fastball as a co-host, presented by Delgado Community College. Daniel co-hosts the segment along with senior baseball coach Joe Scheuermann and the administrator of athletics Delgado.

Apart from that, he was elected for a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Press Club of New Orleans in 2014. In addition, he has won the Louisiana Sportscaster of the year twice, presented by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

Daniel together with basketball coach Timmy Byrd worked as co-event administrators among the top high school basketball competitions in the state the Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic. Additionally, Daniels along with Mark Wisniewski and Brother Martin baseball coach worked for WGNO baseball classic as administrators: a yearly high school competition consisting of a couple of great prep baseball squads in Louisiana.

Above all, he has more than three decades of experience in Louisiana television including the previous 33 in his native town. Moreover, he is a member of both the De La Salle Athletics Hall of Fame and the Archbishop Rummel Athletic Hall of Fame. He was nominated for Wooden Award and also the Heisman Trophy
