Dallas Raines Biography
Dallas Raines is an AMS certified meteorologist who serves as the chief meteorologist for ABC7 Eyewitness News. He left CNN to join KABC-TV in 1984 as a meteorologist and then became a weekend evening anchor. Years later, he was shifted to weekday afternoons 4, 5, 6 and 11PM along with David Ono, Ellen Leyva, Marc Brown and (until 2020) Michelle Tuzee.
He was the chief meteorologist for television stations WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge and at WDSU in New Orleans, Louisiana before moving to CNN to run its national weather coverage. During this time, he also appeared as the weathercaster for the CNN-produced TBS Evening News on what was then SuperStation WTBS (now WPCH-TV).

Dallas is married to Danielle Raines, a writer and philanthropist who served on the organizing committee for the Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada Flintridge. The couple published a children’s weather adventure book titled, “Chester and the Hot Air Balloon” in September 2021.
In November 2016 Danielle was sentenced to three years probation and drug rehabilitation for beating and trying to strangle their adult daughter as they drove home from a La Cañada country club. As part of the plea deal, she pleaded no contest o one felony count of assault by means likely to produce great bodily harm on her 25-year-old daughter.
She was to complete a year at a residential drug rehab program and attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings five times a week. She was also ordered to stay away from her family home as well as from her daughter.
On August 31, while they were at the country club Danielle apparently “became belligerent.” She struck and pushed her daughter before driving home. She continued the attack during the drive home, forcing her daughter to pull to the side of road. She didn’t stop the assault. She beat her daughter and attempted to strangle her while they were pulled over. Her daughter was able to escape and Danielle was arrested later that day.

Dallas was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2005. He revealed this in an interview with ABCLocal in 2016. He said he had been leading a healthy lifestyle by eating well and exercising. He underwent radiation therapy and surgery for treatment.
“It was shocking, to be honest. Well, you eat well, you exercise, but, you know, that can only go so far. Everybody has anxiety, no matter what you do, because that’s life because we’re all obeying the second law of thermodynamics, that means we’re all dying. We just don’t want to die too fast.”

In March 2020, Dallas announced that he was taking a short break due to back surgery. He said he had hurt his back although he never gave more details.

Dallas Raines Sports Car
Raines loves sports cars and has an SCCA license, racing license for fast cars. He revealed he learned to drive while he was young in his hometown. His friend’s father owned a Buick and GMC dealership. Every Friday and Saturday night they would get an old junker and make a racetrack in the cornfields. He owns a 1974 Ford Pantera, also known as De Tomaso Pantera.
