The couple is blessed with two beautiful daughters Cindy and Abby who are in college. Abby attended High Point University and then graduated on May 8, 2021, with a Masters of Business Administration.

Farmer is a news anchor at WGHP. To begin with, she has been at the station for more than two decades as an anchor. After she gave birth to her first daughter Cindy in 1997, she joined the Good Evening Show in Greensboro, based out of the studios of WFMY.  Then, in 1992, she worked as a reporter for News 2 after the show came to an end.

Earlier, she started her career at WSLS TV 10 in Roanoke, Virginia. During this time, she was still a student at Virginia Tech. Afterward, she moved from Blacksburg to Roanoke to join TV 10 where she worked the whole time.

Due to her hard work, Farmer has several awards for example an Emmy for Community Service, the Howard Coble Citizenship award, the USTA Grady Elmore Award for contributions to tennis, The Susan G. Komen Founders Award, the Susan G. Komen Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award.

Farmer is very interested in sports and for this reason, she enjoys playing tennis and some of her best Virginia Tech Hokies are playing! In addition, she’s passionate about photography and she loves capturing “the daily skills we’re given” through her lens. She concludes by saying photography assists her to live by her day-by-day motto “accentuate the positive!
