Chris Sununu is an American politician and engineer who has served as the 82nd governor of New Hampshire since 2017. Chris was a member of the New Hampshire Executive Council from 2011 to 2017.He is running for re-election for Governor of New Hampshire. He is on the ballot in the general election on 8th November, 2022. He advanced from the Republican primary on 13th September, 2022.

He received his bachelor’s degree in 1961, a master’s degree in 1962, and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering in 1966. He was a mechanical engineering professor at Tufts University from 1966 to 1968 and associate dean of the College of Engineering until 1973. From 1963 until his election as governor.
John H. Sununu served as president of JHS Engineering Company and Thermal Research Inc. He represented Salem in the New Hampshire State Legislature from 1973-1974. He became New Hampshire’s 75th Chief Executive on January 6, 1983, and served three consecutive terms. Sununu served on the Advisory Board of the Technology and Policy Program at MIT from 1984-1989.

Mrs. Sununu grew up outside of Boston in Chelsea, Massachusetts, and attended high school in Swampscott, Massachusetts. She received an academic scholarship to attend Simmons College in Boston. Mrs. Sununu graduated with both a B.A. in Spanish language and literature and a B.A. in special education.
Valerie first teaching job was for the Chelsea public schools where she had the opportunity to give back to her hometown community. She then moved across the country to establish the inaugural inclusion program in the public schools of Mill Valley, California. Mrs. Sununu returned to the East Coast to attend Harvard University’s School of Education where she earned her Ed.M. in human development and psychology in 2004.
Valerie works to raise awareness and increase funding for several causes that support education, childhood development, reading, local and small businesses, and addiction recovery. Mrs. Sununu currently serves as board president of the Friends of Bridges House (the New Hampshire executive residence).

Chris led a series of public hearings to review proposals for Managed Medicaid, a program to help New Hampshire Medicaid recipients to coordinate their health care. It also helps Medicaid recipients with chronic diseases like diabetes, asthma, obesity, and mental illness. Through this program, Medicaid recipients have wellness and prevention programs as a part of their Medicaid benefit.
Sununu has supported tax cuts for businesses and a reduction in property taxes. After the 2018 midterm elections, which gave Democrats control of the New Hampshire legislature, Sununu vowed to veto their proposal to create a broader state income tax, as well as several other new taxes and fees. Chris signed a bill making it easier for medical facilities to be licensed to treat veterans. He also opposed the Senate’s Republican health care plan in 2017, citing that the proposal would negatively affect Medicaid and addiction recovery services in the state.
