Richards is a news anchor and reporter at Fox 5. At first, he joined the station as a multi-media journalist in 2015. During his time at the evening newscasts, he was writing, shooting and editing his own stories. However, in the winter of the same year, he switched from reporting at 4 p.m to 4 a.m., being assisted by photography filming and also modifying his stories. In addition, he brought live reports covering San Diego County beginning at 4:30 a.m.
During his tenure, he has covered various extensive breaking news in San Diego, in fact, nation; including the crowd shooting in Las Vegas in 2017, which was the most fatal in U.S. history. Furthermore, he covered the visit of presidents and he was among the first journalists to cover serious wildfires in California, together with various visits to the Mexico- U.S. border reporting on the immigration calamities.
