He attended the University of St. Andrews and got a master’s in English & Film Studies from 2005 to 2009. Alan received an MA (Hons) in English Literature & Film Studies from the University of the West of Scotland. He got a distinction for a diploma in Broadcast Journalism from 2010 to 2011.
